The Recnition project is a combination of entrepreneurship and development. As co-founder of Recnition I’ve had the responsibility to develop the software and hardware. Recnition currently develops a security system based on facial recognition in combination with a blacklist. For example, if someone is listed on the blacklist and wants to enter a venue, a camera first scans that person's face and matches the scan with images linked to the blacklist. If the comparison is a match, a notification will be send to a mobile application, alerting the venue owner.
The project is built with multiple techniques. We used Node JS to build an API for the communication between the front-end application and the back-end API The front-end is built with React typescript and Ionic to build a hybrid application. This makes it possible to use the application for both mobile and desktop use cases. The AI and machine learning part are built with the Open CV computer vision library for Python.
